During 1920 a group of enthusiastic friends gathered and thought the necessity of a cooperative Bank in one of the oldest extensions in Bangalore called MALLESWARAM. The group which consisted of Government officers and cooperative thinkers gave a definite shape for their vision and on 26-06-1920 emerged of a Bank called 'THE MALLESWARAM CO- OPERATIVE BANK LTD. These pioneers headed by Sri V Aiyaswamy Iyer, had met on 04-07-1920 conducted the first Board of Directors meeting which dawned a new movement in co- operative sector.
A small room at Govt. Girls school has witnessed the first Banking transaction. Later, a rented room at Sampige Road, Malleswaram housed the Bank with two working force on part time had successfully run this business. The Popularity with adopted cooperative thoughts took no time to reach huge business and the group of eminent Board of Directors extended their whole hearted support even by collecting every rupee from door to door and go for a big noted Bank in almost all near by areas like Seshadripuram, Palace Guttahalli, Sriramapura, Vyalikaval etc. The friendly and humble attitude of these founders had made this Bank to come to this level. The Bank has been studiously adhering to all regulators guidelines and performing to the best level throughout. The working discipline of the Bank and the commitment shown by the Management sincere services of the staff from time to time in all spheres of Bank's working has been exemplary.
Bank has got three of its own building in prime areas like Heart of the Malleswaram, Vyalikaval and Rajajinagar areas. It is pride to mention here that the Malleswaram branch housed in the 10000 sqft of carpet area.
In the middle of 1920, a brand of young and enthusiastic persons under the guidance of a few matured/senior persons gave thought and discussed amongst themselves, the idea of starting a Co-operative Bank. As there was no other banking institution in the locality, the idea was received enthusiastically by the people and immediately without giving room for delay held a meeting and the decision was taken to start a Co-operative Bank.
